Airbound Raises $37M to Build an Airline for Autonomous Drones

India's startup ecosystem is increasingly moving into deep technology, and one Bengaluru company is betting that the future of logistics could take to the skies.

Indian startup Airbound has raised $37 million in Series A funding to develop autonomous drones designed to transport goods more efficiently than conventional road-based logistics. The round was led by Greenoaks, with participation from DoorDash, Lachy Groom, Lightspeed and Humba Ventures.

The latest funding brings Airbound's total capital raised to nearly $50 million.

But the company's ambition is considerably larger than building another delivery drone.
